About me

MA Communication Design (Central St Martins)

MA Integrative Arts Psychotherapy (IATE)
I am accredited by HCPC, MBACP and BAAT
I am also working towards IFS accredation

I trained as an Integrative Arts Psychotherapist at IATE in London after a long career as a creative in the commercial tech and advertising world. This means I have real-world experience of the pressures of juggling a full working life and family. Having grown up in South London in a dysfunctional family in the 70s and brought a daughter up on my own, I can also communicate and relate well with a wide range of people from all backgrounds.

My experience in therapeutic settings includes working for the NHS, community-based charities, private practice and four years working for an addiction treatment centre in Harley Street.

I have also been in 12-step recovery for 23 years, so have extensive personal experience of this model and of the difficulties of addiction to alcohol and other substances, as well as a range of addictive behavioural patterns. I can also help with issues that arise from being in long-term recovery.

At my core I am kind, thoughtful and curious, which I combine with a straight-talking, direct approach. I can challenge clients when I think it could be helpful. I believe that my training and creative background allows me to help clients find interesting and effective ways of expressing themselves. I often use creative interventions to help clients reflect on their difficulties and find new perspectives for dealing with their challenges.

I run an evidence-based practice, which allows me to continually reflect on the work I am doing and its effectiveness. I am also committed to ongoing professional development (CPD), and work within an ethical framework as defined by the BACP which includes ongoing clinical supervision.

Ultimately, working with any therapist is about connection and relationship. If I look like the sort of therapist you could connect with, please get in touch and we can have a chat on the phone and see if the chemistry feels right.
